NICE launches National HealthTech Access Programme to accelerate innovation across the NHS

Medical Device Network reports that NICE has launched the National HealthTech Access Programme (NHAP), a new initiative designed to speed up patient access to high-impact medical technologies across England and Wales. Developed in collaboration with NHS England, the MHRA, the Department of Health and Social Care and the Office for Life Sciences, the programme aims to ensure proven medical devices, diagnostics and digital health technologies can be adopted more consistently across the NHS, helping to reduce regional variation in access.

The programme represents a significant milestone for the UK MedTech sector, placing medical technologies on a more structured pathway towards national adoption, similar to medicines. By supporting faster evaluation, reimbursement and implementation of innovative solutions, the NHAP has the potential to improve patient outcomes, reduce pressure on NHS services and create a clearer route to market for developers bringing impactful healthcare innovations to patients.
