Olympus expands cancer technology portfolio with $270M BioProtect acquisition

MedTech Dive reports that Olympus has agreed to acquire BioProtect for approximately $270M as part of its continued expansion within minimally invasive cancer treatment technologies. BioProtect is best known for developing a biodegradable rectal spacer used during prostate cancer radiotherapy, designed to help reduce damage to surrounding healthy tissue during treatment.

The acquisition strengthens Olympus’ growing oncology portfolio and highlights the increasing demand for technologies that improve procedural precision whilst supporting better patient outcomes.
