NHS National Rehabilitation Centre to deploy intelligent bedside screens with Airwave
Med-Tech Insights reports that the NHS National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), operated by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and due to open later in 2025, will deploy intelligent bedside terminals using iPad-based devices provided by Airwave Healthcare to transform patient experience and recovery.
These terminals will integrate with the NRC’s building management and patient care systems, allowing patients to adjust lighting, heating and blinds directly from the device. This autonomy is particularly valuable for individuals with reduced mobility or memory challenges following traumatic injury.
Through Airwave’s MyCareTV platform, patients will also have access to personalised rehabilitation content, education modules, care schedules and real-time updates on medication, dietary information, care teams and estimated discharge dates. The devices also offer video calling and meal ordering features, helping to reduce reliance on staff while enhancing comfort and connectivity.
This rollout reflects the increasing importance of digital engagement tools in MedTech, supporting both patient independence and more efficient care delivery.
