Intuitive’s da Vinci 5 surgical system receives CE mark approval
Digital Health reports that Intuitive Surgical’s latest robotic platform, the da Vinci 5, has received CE mark approval for use across Europe. The system is now cleared for both adult and paediatric procedures including urologic, gynaecologic, general laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery.
The da Vinci 5 brings over 150 technological enhancements to the operating theatre, including improved force feedback for delicate tissue handling, a next-generation 3D vision system, and significantly more computing power than previous models. It is designed to enhance surgical precision and support better patient outcomes while improving workflow and reducing strain on surgical teams.
With over 410,000 procedures performed using da Vinci systems in Europe during 2024 alone, this latest CE mark paves the way for further adoption across NHS hospitals and private centres looking to invest in advanced robotic-assisted surgery.
